NASA is actively collaborating with ESA to develop the LISA mission. A NASA LISA Project Office has been established at the Goddard Space Flight Center and there is a joint NASA-ESA LISA Science Team that has been empaneled to provide scientific stewardship for the mission and serve as ambassadors between the agencies and the scientific community.
ESA and NASA have appointed representatives to the LISA Science Team in late 2024. This group of experts on astrophysics, general relativity, instrumentation, data analysis and other topics will oversee the scientific implementation of the mission, including determining details of the eventual LISA source catalog. The roster is available on The LISA Science Team 2024 – 2027.
The NASA LISA Project Office at GSFC coordinates U.S. participation in the ESA-NASA LISA mission. Activities include participating in mission and requirements definition, developing technologies and data analysis infrastructure, and laying the groundwork for future participation in LISA by the U.S. science community. Key personnel are listed below. The NASA LISA Project will undergo its next major milestone in Spring 2025, which is Key Decision Point B (TBD, after which the the NASA LISA Project will be in Phase B.
